Clean cooking

About the Project

Safe cooking of home-grown vegetables from Garden to Connect

In many places, coal is used for cooking. It is energy inefficient, highly polluting and harmful to people and the planet. The fumes from traditional cooking are known to cause a major health problem. According to a World Bank report published in 2016, “exposure to air pollution is now the fourth largest fatal health risk worldwide”.

That is why we practice to cook on a biomass stove. We prepare home-grown vegetables in a healthier way. Burning is climate- and environmentally friendly and healthier for the children who cook. Pellets are made from biomass waste that is left over from forestry, replanting and furniture production and thus contribute to a circular economy.

For the young, the biomass stoves are easy to handle, can be moved to outdoor cooking when the weather permits, can avoid burns to the skin, as they are not hot on the surface and heat up very quickly. This minimizes time for cooking and leaves more time for studying and gardening.
